Especially when considering an unintended or unexpected pregnancy – it might feel like decisions need to be made quickly, and sometimes women don’t have all the information they need to make an informed choice. Parkridge is here to help – we don’t rush through appointments, we encourage women to take time to consider all options regarding a pregnancy: carrying to term and parenting, placing for adoption, and abortion.
It might seem scary to think about having a baby when that wasn’t really part of the plan – at least not the plan for “right now”. Many women feel they aren’t equipped to parent, or have concerns about how their family might react to the news. Even for women who already have children, the thought of having another baby when it’s already a struggle to parent 1 or 2 can definitely be overwhelming. We can help walk through what support is available – both personally and through community resources. It is empowering to know that this isn’t something a woman has to face alone- we can help! Parkridge offers a class for first time moms to help prepare for motherhood, and we even offer free counseling services for those who find themselves overwhelmed with decisions surrounding pregnancy – both before, during, and after!
For many, the idea of placing a child for adoption seems intimidating – and there may be misconceptions about adoption. Whether through an open adoption – where the birth family and adoptive family work together on a plan to stay in contact, or a closed adoption – where the birth family chooses to limit information and contact with the adoptive family –considering placing a child for adoption can help a woman feel she can take control in a situation where she might be tempted to feel she doesn’t have many options. Many women who place a child for adoption are already parents, and know what parenting requires.
Like the other options of parenting or placing for adoption, choosing an abortion is a big decision. Parkridge does not provide abortion services, but our staff can help by providing accurate and medically relevant education about the different types of abortion procedures, as well as information about current Texas law surrounding abortion. We offer a confidential, safe, and nonjudgmental space to process questions and concerns. Education is power, and taking time to meet with a medical professional, have an ultrasound, and carefully consider options, helps women to make informed decisions about abortion.
All of the services Parkridge offers are free to our clients…we don’t profit from any decision a woman makes when she comes to us for care. We are here to help by offering pregnancy testing, confirmation ultrasounds, STD testing and treatment and professional counseling services. Parkridge does not offer abortion services, but can help someone considering this choice through options education. We also offer support after abortion through confidential, professional counseling and groups. Let us know if we can help! Contact us to schedule an appointment.
